About the Founder
Growing up I had an amazing family who loved and supported me. I even remember having a tea party with my dad (and the teapot was filled with coffee). I was taught to be a strong and independent woman. However, things were different outside of the home. Even though I was told I was special at home, I felt the complete opposite outside because I was seen as different and weird. I suffered from bad skin and had a uni-brow. I was extremely thin, and people thought I sometimes acted strange. I was bullied throughout my childhood for the way I looked and acted. No matter how hard I tried, I never felt like I fit in.
During those difficult years, the things that kept me going were my family, dance, and the fine arts. I always loved being active, part of a group and community. But after a while being constantly bullied by my peers, I lost confidence in myself and my abilities. I would compare myself to others and constantly put myself down because I wasn't the person I thought I had to be. I always had an entrepreneurial spirit and wanted to make a difference in the world by helping and giving back in any way I could. After university I began travelling throughout Europe and parts of the world. This gave me a new perspective and direction in life. I discovered a reason for being, and it wasn’t until my late 20’s did I really appreciate who I was, and began loving myself again.
They say life guides you towards your true calling, and I truly believe tea found me. I always believed in being fair, respectful and caring. However, I longed for a purpose, a way to help and serve others, and the opportunity to bring people together. I discovered this purpose with tea. It warms the heart and it feeds the soul by building friendships, connecting culture, and healing people. Tea fills the desire and need I have been longing for my entire life.
That is why I love and honour what I do. TeaLife stands for something bigger than me. Although we are all unique in our own special way, we are all connected. And by drinking tea we can share, love, belong and grow together with every cup.
